Prayer.

Introduction:
  • Select a player(s) who has proven to be disciplined or self-controlled.
  • Have the player to stand.
  • Invite his/her coaches and teammates to describe situations in which he/she has demonstrated self-control.
  • Wrap up and ask the player to be seated.
Today's Bible verse speaks directly about competition and the value of competing in a disciplined way. (Read I Corinthians 9:24-25 aloud.)
  • Compete - run to win (in faith and in life).
  • Exercise discipline (self-control) in all things.
  • The rewards are both short-term (life now), and long-term (life eternal).
